Over vs Topstep

How a $50,000 Topstep Trading Combine compares with a $50,000 Over mission. Topstep's smallest Combine is $50,000.

How each one works

Topstep is a futures prop firm. You trade the Trading Combine, then move to an Express Funded Account.[1] Over is an instant-funded perpetual prop firm for stock and crypto perps. No evaluation: hit the target and you're paid.

Where Over is ahead

  • One fee, $649. Topstep is $49 every month plus $149 to activate.[2]
  • Instant funding, and the payout comes when you pass. Topstep wants 5 winning days of $150 or more before a payout.[3][4]
  • Stocks and crypto perps, not futures only, with no trading fees.[1][5]

What you pay, and what it takes to get paid

Topstep charges $49 a month for the Combine, plus a one-time $149 activation fee when you pass on the standard path.[2] The Combine asks for $3,000, and your best day must stay at or under 55% of it.[1][6] Then you trade an Express Funded Account, and you can request a payout after 5 winning days of $150 or more.[3] Over charges $649 once for $50,000, and it's instant funded. No monthly fee, no activation fee, no trading fees. You make 8% ($4,000) in realised profit within 120 hours, across at least 5 sectors, and you're paid in USDC within 24 hours of approval.[5][4] No winning-days count to clear first.

How you fail

Topstep's maximum loss is $2,000. It trails your end-of-day balance, not your intraday high, and locks once it reaches $50,000.[7] A $1,000 daily loss limit is optional; you choose it at checkout.[8] Over's floor is static, 5% below your $50,000 start, at $47,500. Its daily limit is 3% of the account, $1,500, from each day's opening balance.[5]

Two example 120-hour runs on a $50,000 account. White is the balance, the iridescent line is Over's floor, and red is Topstep's limits. On a calm run Over's floor sits higher, because it starts 5% below you. On a winning run with one bad day, a daily limit can end the run while you're still up. Over's floor stops at your start, so it can't.

How you get paid

Topstep's split is 90%. On the standard path you can request a payout after 5 winning days of $150 or more. It pays by ACH, wire, Aeropay or Wise.[3] Over pays 80% of the target, or 90% with the upgrade, in USDC on Solana within 24 hours of approval.[4]
